NetSuite Status: How to Check if NetSuite is Down or Experiencing Issues

December 25, 2022

ERP software like NetSuite plays an essential role in modern businesses. Markets are fiercely competitive, and every second counts. So, if you're experiencing service interruptions, you need to know what is happening straight away — which is where NetSuite status updates come in.

While NetSuite downtime is a rare event, it's crucial to have a variety of ways to check the status of your ERP program at any time and from anywhere.

In this article, we'll share with you a few different methods that you can use to check if NetSuite is active and working as intended.

Does NetSuite go down often?

Overall, NetSuite is very stable. On https://status.netsuite.com/, you can find up-to-the-minute stats for uptime over the last calendar year. These figures currently sit at 99.99%.

As part of its Service Level Commitment (SLC), NetSuite promises to be up 99.7% of the time. This promise holds across the entire NetSuite family of applications.

Occasional outages and disruptions are an inevitable part of offering a service online. Cloud-based services can get disrupted for a variety of networking reasons. Server outages, in general, are infrequent, but they often make the news. For example, Facebook's significant service disruptions in 2019 and 2021 were reported extensively.

What is a NetSuite service outage?

A NetSuite service outage can encompass a few different things, such as:

  • NetSuite being down
  • NetSuite not loading
  • Issues logging in to your account
  • An inability to search or enter data

Business managers can automate SMS or emails that inform them of outages. However, this blog post will deal with proactive ways that you can check if there are any current issues. Understanding if there is a problem with NetSuite or whether the issue lies on your side will help troubleshoot any issues.

There are times when internet or computer issues, misconfigurations, or other technical issues will limit your access to NetSuite. Being able to rule out a broader problem with the platform — by going to the NetSuite status page — is very helpful.

How does NetSuite ensure availability?

NetSuite understands that downtime costs businesses time and money. ERP software is so important to modern businesses that losing access to it is a huge problem. NetSuite ensures the reliability of its platform with several welcome features.

  • NetSuite Service Level Commitment (SLC) guarantees service availability of 99.7%. If NetSuite does not deliver on this promise, they apply a credit to your account
  • NetSuite operates several data centers spread around the world. Each center uses advanced data management practices to ensure uptime—for example, data mirroring, failover, disaster recovery, etc.
  • NetSuite uses a Content Delivery Centre (CDN) to ensure speed and performance and mitigate against denial of service attacks
  • NetSuite’s network architecture is designed without single-point data transmission bottlenecks either to or from the network. This setup eliminates a common cause of service outages
  • NetSuite employs a team of network operators that work 24 x 7 to monitor and resolve network issues and keep customers in the loop about any issues or downtime

Now, let’s look at a few different ways that you can check the NetSuite status.

1. NetSuite Service Status Page

The NetSuite Service Status Page is the best place to check if NetSuite is up and running as expected. It's a tool that NetSuite built so its users could stay informed about:

  • Service interruptions
  • Degraded performance
  • Unplanned outages

There are three ways you can check NetSuite status through the platform.

A) You can check your NetSuite status through your user interface.

B) However, if part of the outage is that the NetSuite User Interface is down, then

you can also review the status at: https://system.netsuite.com

C) If you're already logged in to SuiteAnswer, you can also get this information by clicking the NetSuite Status button in the title bar.

What information does the NetSuite status page contain?

You will be greeted with a lot of information when you open the NetSuite status page.

AVG UPTIME: The average uptime is a rolling 12-month average that is updated every month. It shows how much of the time NetSuite services are running without being stopped.

Application requests: The total number of application requests made over the last 12 months.

"Subscribe to Updates" button: A blue button that lets you subscribe via SMS or email to receive any updates regarding NetSuite status changes. This feature is excellent for management or people in administrative roles.

Below these entries, you will find the Current Status section. This area is where you can get a granular NetSuite status update.

You have a few options here based on region. You can select:

  • All
  • North America
  • Europe, the Middle East, and Africa
  • Asia Pacific

Each region contains a list of your local data center. You can tab through to get individualized and local reports.

Incident reports

If there are any issues, you will see some incident reports listed. These reports show any notifications about:

  • Service interruptions
  • Serious application defects
  • Outages

These service notifications can provide further details about the interruption or security concerns. All posts will display the time of resolution.

Additionally, you can subscribe to incidents to get SMS or email updates.

Incident History

The Incident History section provides a list of all incidents over the past 30 days.

NetSuite Services

In certain situations, some parts of the NetSuite services will be affected by downtime or disruptions. NetSuite allows you to find out what is happening with

  • Application UI: NetSuite user interface
  • SuiteCommerce - Websites: web stores running on NetSuite
  • SuiteCommerce - Checkout: web store checkout processing
  • Email: email infrastructure
  • Asynchronous Services: backend processes, for example, ERP processes and SuiteScript processors
  • SuiteTalk: SOAP Web Services, REST Web Services, and partner integrations
  • SuiteAnalytics Connect: ODBC, JDBC, and ADO.NET connections to NetSuite data
  • SuiteAnswers: NetSuite self-service support site

Again, you can tab through data servers and regions to see where particular service outages are occurring. These are notified by Service Icons, of which there are four:

A green checkmark: Indicates there are no issues

A yellow square with a minus: Indicates degraded performance, but no downtime

Orange triangle: Indicates a partial outage that is affecting some NetSuite customers

Red circle: A full-system outage affecting all NetSuite users

2. Check NetSuite status with downdetector.com

Another way that you can check NetSuite status is by clicking on https://downdetector.com/status/netsuite/.

Downdetector is not a dedicated NetSuite Status website. Instead, it tracks various internet and mobile properties like:

  • Internet services providers
  • Online games and services via mobile networks
  • Financial providers

Downdetectors has some valuable features for anyone who is interested in NetSuite status. It allows users to:

  • Report issues with NetSuite
  • Rate NetSuite’s performance over the last few months
  • Access a chart with NetSuite outages over the last 24hrs
  • Access a map that shows the location of live outages
  • Leave and read comments related to NetSuite status issues
  • Read customer comments on social media about NetSuite service issues or disruptions
  • Displays Tweets from NetSuite’s official account

While Downdetector isn’t an official page, it comes packed with helpful information and features that make it worth bookmarking.

3. Check the NetSuite website with Isitdownrightnow.com

Is It Down Right Now? is another general website for checking the status of various websites and platforms. While it’s not as reliable as the NetSuite status page, nor has it the features of Downdetector, it still has some very useful information.

Some of the reasons to bookmark https://www.isitdownrightnow.com/netsuite.com.html are:

  • It lists current website page response times
  • It details when the website was last down
  • It displays website downtime history and historical ping times
  • It lists some possible troubleshooting instructions

4. Check with Statusgator

Unlike the other entries on our list, Statusgator is a paid-for platform. However, it has a free plan that allows the following:

  • One user
  • One dashboard
  • Monitoring of three cloud-based platforms
  • Ten notifications per month

While that might seem limited, it’s perfectly fine if you only need it to monitor NetSuite.

It has some helpful features, too, like links to NetSuite’s:

  • Status page
  • Website
  • Twitter page

Additionally, users can report problems.

Most useful is the historical data of issues and outages, which include NetSuite’s comments about what happened and where the problems occurred. It even reports on individual NetSuite components. Overall, it’s a useful tool.
